FSSC 22000 is not a standard. It is three things stacked together.
That distinction matters more than it sounds, and it is where most training in this market quietly goes wrong. FSSC 22000 is a certification scheme built on ISO 22000 for the management system, a set of sector specific prerequisite programmes chosen by food chain category, and a layer of additional requirements set by the scheme owner. An auditor who knows ISO 22000 and nothing else can read the first layer and will miss the other two, which is where a large share of findings actually sit.
This course qualifies you to audit the scheme itself. Across 40 CPD hours you work through all three layers, then through the audit process under ISO 19011 and the scheme's own rules on scope, category determination, audit duration and unannounced audits. It covers Version 7 throughout, including what an upgrade audit from Version 6 looks at. The course closes with a formal examination.
Look at what is ranking for this term in Pakistan. Almost every result is an ISO 22000 course with FSSC in the title. They are not the same qualification and a certification body knows the difference.
Delegates who already audit ISO 22000 or hold HACCP training will recognise the hazard analysis and the management system clauses, and will spend most of their effort on the prerequisite programmes, the additional requirements, and the two elements Version 7 made harder: food safety culture and sustainability.

Version 7 has a published timetable
FSSC published Version 7 in May 2026. Audits against Version 6 are permitted until 30 April 2027, and upgrade audits against Version 7 are conducted from 1 May 2027 until 30 April 2028. Every certified site has to be upgraded inside that window, and the auditors doing it have to be competent on the new text first.
Food exports fell almost thirty percent in a year
Pakistan Bureau of Statistics figures show food commodity exports of USD 5.017 billion in FY2026, down 29.49 percent from USD 7.116 billion the year before. Rice accounted for USD 2.291 billion, meat USD 530 million, fish and seafood USD 482 million and fruit USD 308 million. When volumes tighten, the buyers who remain are the ones with the strictest scheme requirements.
It is a market access requirement, not a badge
FSSC 22000 is recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative, which is why large retailers and manufacturers accept it and why a supplier without a recognised scheme often does not reach the shortlist. For an exporter the certificate is not a marketing asset. It is the condition of the conversation.
Most FSSC training here is ISO 22000 training
Search the term and see for yourself. Nearly every course ranking in Pakistan for FSSC 22000 is an ISO 22000 lead auditor course carrying FSSC in the page title. ISO 22000 is one of the three layers. Being trained on the scheme, including the prerequisite programmes and the additional requirements, is a different qualification and a more useful one.

FSSC published Version 7 in May 2026. Audits against Version 6 are permitted until 30 April 2027, and upgrade audits against Version 7 run from 1 May 2027 until 30 April 2028. Counting backwards through implementation, an internal audit and a management review on the new requirements, preparation needs to start well before your upgrade audit is booked. How long is the course?
40 CPD hours in total, delivered across five modules. The final module closes with the formal examination. How those hours are scheduled depends on the format you choose, which is why we quote the course in hours rather than in days.
Does the course cover the new sustainability requirement?
Yes. Version 7 introduced a mandatory sustainability element requiring alignment with relevant United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through documented objectives, indicators and performance monitoring. Module three covers what that means in practice and, more usefully for an auditor, what evidence is sufficient and what is not.
Do I need HACCP knowledge before I start?
It helps considerably. Delegates who have run a HACCP study or hold HACCP training move fastest, because module two builds on that foundation rather than teaching it from zero. If you are coming from production or engineering without it, tell us before you book and we will give you an honest answer about whether to take a HACCP course first. Can I take the course online or at my own pace?
Both. The live online format is instructor led through the full 40 CPD hours. The self paced format gives you the same material to work through on your own schedule with tutor support, and the same formal examination at the end. Very few providers in Pakistan offer a self paced route at this level.
Is the certificate internationally recognised, and can it be verified?
Yes. Successful delegates receive an internationally recognised certificate issued under an accredited personnel certification scheme, and it can be verified independently by an employer or a certification body.
