Audit a safety management system, not a folder of safety policies.
ISO 45001:2018 is the international standard for occupational health and safety management. It sets out how an organisation identifies what can hurt the people who work for it, decides what to do about it, involves those people in the decision, and proves afterwards that the arrangement worked. Structurally it will look familiar to anyone who has audited ISO 9001 or ISO 14001, because it uses the same clause framework. In practice it audits very differently, because most of the evidence is not in a document. It is on the floor, in the permits, and in what a worker tells you when the supervisor is not standing next to them.
This course takes an experienced safety professional, auditor or manager and makes them capable of leading a full audit against the standard. Across 40 CPD hours you work through the requirements clause by clause, including the climate action changes added by Amendment 1 in 2024, then through the audit process itself: planning, the opening meeting, gathering evidence in a live operating environment, writing nonconformities that survive challenge, and leading a team through a closing meeting.
Clause 5.4 asks for worker consultation and participation. It is the one requirement in the standard that cannot be satisfied by producing a document, and it is where most audits in Pakistan find their real findings.
Teaching is built on ISO 19011, the guideline every management system audit in the world runs on, so the method transfers directly to any other standard you already audit. The course also treats the legal side seriously, which matters more here than in most countries: occupational safety law in Pakistan is provincial, and clause 6.1.3 obliges an organisation to know which statute applies at which site.
The standard is about to change, and the law already has.
ISO 45001 is closer to a new edition than at any point since it was published, and Pakistan has rewritten its own safety statutes underneath it.
A second edition is in ballot now
ISO lists ISO 45001:2018 at stage 90.92, meaning an International Standard to be revised. The replacement, ISO/DIS 45001, is a 48 page second edition sitting at stage 40.20, the twelve week enquiry ballot with ISO member bodies, under technical committee ISO/TC 283. ISO's own catalogue entry says the 2018 edition is expected to be replaced within the coming months.
The climate amendment is already binding
ISO 45001:2018/Amd 1:2024 added climate action changes to the standard, and ISO publishes the amendment at no charge. It is not optional and it is not future dated. Auditors are expected to look for it in clauses 4.1 and 4.2 today, and a great deal of Pakistani safety documentation has not yet caught up with it.
Four provinces, four different statutes
Occupational safety legislation in Pakistan is provincial. Sindh passed its Occupational Safety and Health Act in 2017, Punjab in 2019, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan in 2022, each sitting on top of the older Factories Act 1934. Clause 6.1.3 obliges an organisation to determine and keep current the legal requirements that actually apply to it.
A large workforce and a shallow audit bench
The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics puts total employment at 77.2 million in its Labour Force Survey for 2024 and 2025. General safety certificates are common here. A lead auditor qualification against the management system standard, which is what a certification body and an export customer actually ask for, is a good deal less common.
Where you operate decides which safety law you have to audit against.
Clause 6.1.3 requires an organisation to determine its legal and other requirements and keep them current. In Pakistan that is not one list. This is the module competitors leave out.

How much does the ISO 45001 lead auditor course cost in Pakistan?
The fee is between PKR 70,000 and PKR 90,000, roughly USD 250 to 320, and the examination fee is included in that figure. Where you sit in the band depends on whether you take the self paced, live online or on site classroom format, and on how many delegates you are booking. We confirm the exact figure in writing before you commit.
How long is the course?
40 CPD hours in total, delivered across five modules. The final module closes with the formal examination. How those hours are scheduled depends on the format you choose, which is why we quote the course in hours rather than in days.
ISO 45001 is being revised. Should I wait for the new edition?
No. ISO 45001:2018 remains the certified edition, and every certificate issued today is issued against it. The replacement, ISO/DIS 45001, is a second edition currently in the twelve week enquiry ballot with ISO member bodies at stage 40.20, and ISO's own catalogue entry says the 2018 edition is expected to be replaced within the coming months. When a new edition is published there is always a transition period, and auditors already qualified against the current edition are the people organisations turn to for the upgrade. Waiting means arriving late.
What did the 2024 climate action amendment change?
ISO 45001:2018/Amd 1:2024 brought climate action changes into the standard, touching the requirements around understanding the organisation and its context and the needs and expectations of interested parties. In practice an auditor now expects climate related conditions such as heat, air quality and flooding to have been considered as external issues, and to see that consideration reflected in the hazard identification and risk assessment rather than only in a policy statement. ISO issues the amendment at no charge, so there is no reason for an organisation not to hold it.

Yes. The examination fee is included in the course fee. There is no separate charge to sit the paper and no additional certification cost afterwards.

Can I take the course online or at my own pace?
Both. The live online format is instructor led through the full 40 CPD hours. The self paced format gives you the same 40 CPD hours of material to work through on your own schedule with tutor support, and the same formal examination at the end. Very few providers in Pakistan offer a self paced route for a lead auditor qualification.
Is the certificate internationally recognised, and can it be verified?
Yes. Successful delegates receive an internationally recognised certificate issued under an accredited personnel certification scheme, and it can be verified independently by an employer or a certification body. Does ISO 45001 replace Pakistan's safety laws?
No, and an auditor who treats it that way will miss findings. ISO 45001 is a voluntary management system standard. Occupational safety law in Pakistan is provincial, with separate Occupational Safety and Health Acts in Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, sitting above older federal legislation including the Factories Act 1934. Clause 6.1.3 of the standard obliges an organisation to determine those legal requirements and keep them current, so the law is something the audit tests, not something the standard displaces.
Do I need prior auditing experience?
Delegates who already hold an auditor qualification in another management system standard find the audit modules familiar and can spend their effort on the safety specific material.
